About me

I’m Taniya Shrestha—a passionate youth leader, mountain bike guide, and aspiring public health professional from Nepal. My journey began in the hills of eastern Nepal, where resilience and curiosity shaped my path. After excelling in Nepal’s national exams, I earned a place at Budhanilkantha School, one of the country’s most prestigious institutions. But life wasn’t without challenges—my family faced the devastating 2015 earthquake, and later the struggles of the pandemic. These experiences taught me strength, adaptability, and the power of education.

Today, I channel those lessons into action. As a Youth Ambassador for the Smithsonian NESST program, I advocate for sustainable development and socio-scientific thinking on global platforms.

I’m also deeply involved in Cycle Connect Bhaktapur, where I organize community rides and teach girls to cycle—using bicycles as tools for confidence, mobility, and social change.

Beyond leadership, I’m a licensed mountain bike guide, volunteering with biking clubs in Kathmandu and promoting outdoor adventure for women. My interests extend to public health, where I aim to bridge science and community service to address pressing health challenges in Nepal.

I believe in slow growth, intentional learning, and redefining success on my own terms. Through storytelling, adventure, and service, I strive to inspire others and create pathways for equity and sustainability.

Let’s connect if you share a passion for youth leadership, public health, sustainable development, or empowering girls through adventure and education.
